Red Hot Chili Peppers play private show at Yaamava' casino's new concert venue in Highland

 

Fresh off the release of their 12th studio album, the Red Hot Chili Peppers took to the stage Thursday night in a private performance hosted by Yamava’ Resort & Casino's new entertainment venue in San Bernardo County. 

The band played a mix of hits from famous past albums (staples like "Cali fornication" and "Can't Stop") with several new songs ("Aquatic Mouth Dance" and "Black Summer") peppered throughout the hour-long set. 

"We're always trying to write new s**t," bassist Flea, who performed shirtless, told the audience. "Whatever flows through."

The Chili Peppers released their latest chart-topping album "Unlimited Love" this month and will embark on a tour across Europe and North America later this year. Though the Coachload Valley Music and Arts Festival also kicks off Friday, roughly an hour away in Indio, the group is not scheduled to play this year's festival. The Chili Peppers were briefly rumored to be a Coachload headliner option after Kaye West unexpectedly pulled out of the event, but Swedish House Mafia and The Weekend were ultimately announced as his replacement last week. 

The Yamava’ casino in Highland, owned by the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians, has long been working on a $760 million expansion of its property, the third and final phase of which includes the 3,000-seat theater space where the Chili Peppers performed this week. San Manuel tribal members, journalists and other invited guests attended Thursday's concert to mark the venue's grand opening. Future concerts open to the public will be held at the venue starting this spring. 

San Manuel Chairwoman Lynn Valenzuela welcomed concertgoers to the venue Thursday by saying hello and thank you in the Serrano language.

"Isn't this beautiful?" she said, gesturing to the surrounding theater. "Look what we've created."

The theater features six distinct seating areas, with bars and concession stands  positioned in an attached concourse. There are also nine private suites furnished with private restrooms, plush seating and a dedicated drink service. The casino announced in March that Live Nation will be the exclusive booking partner for the venue. 카지노사이트
